Enhance Your Park’s Safety: An Overview of Upcoming Technical Training

Is your ropes course rescue plan up to date? Learn about the pros and cons of different systems, from manual kits to simple, all-in-one mechanical devices.

In the adventure and recreation business, safety and efficiency are everything. When a key piece of equipment goes down, your entire operation can grind to a halt. This costs you revenue and disappoints visitors. But what if your own team had the certified skills to manage everything from daily checks to full annual service? This isn’t just about compliance; it’s about operational independence. Specialized Adventure Park Training is the key to reducing downtime, cutting long-term costs, and ensuring your park runs at peak performance. We’re breaking down the new training courses designed specifically for professional operators like you.

Prepare your team for the demands of modern adventure parks, ropes courses, and climbing parks with our upcoming specialized Adventure Park Training courses. This series is designed to provide comprehensive knowledge and practical skills for rescue, service, and maintenance. The curriculum focuses on the safe and compliant use of critical equipment, including SAFE DESCENT, SAFE DESCENT PRO, SMART BELAY, and SMART BELAY-X, in accordance with all relevant standards.

Smart Belay and Smart Belay-X Adjustment

Date: November 25, 2025 Focus: Routine maintenance and safety checks

This half-day course is essential for park operators and their teams. Smart Belay systems are used extensively and can experience slight stretching of the Bowden cable, which is responsible for carabiner communication.

This training teaches the quick and independent adjustment of the Bowden cable, as well as proper functionality checks and screw inspections, to ensure the continuous safe operation of your Smart Belay and Smart Belay-X systems.

Note: This course can be combined with the Safe Descent Level 1 – Instruction Trainer course offered on the same day.

Smart Belay and Smart Belay-X Master

Date: December 1 – 5, 2025 Focus: Comprehensive maintenance competence

Aimed at builders and large parks with a high volume of Smart Belay systems, this intensive 5-day course trains participants to independently perform all annual servicing and repairs.

Acquiring this in-house competence allows operators to save costs and utilize staff effectively during the off-season. The course includes theoretical blocks, extensive hands-on practice, a facility tour, and special Smart Belay tools. Catering is provided, and all completed work must be documented in the EDELRID service app.

PPE Inspection Course

Date: December 2025 Focus: Certified inspection of PPE against falls (DGUV 312-906)

This three-day training course provides the necessary background knowledge and practical skills to become a “competent person” for the inspection and assessment of personal protective equipment (PPE) against falls from a height, in accordance with DGUV 312-906 and EN 365:2004.

Participants will learn to assess the proper condition of equipment across various applications, including mountaineering, rescue, rope access, and more, ensuring your park meets all legal and technical standards for equipment safety.

Safe Descent Level 1 – Instruction Trainer

Date: November 25, 2025 Focus: Training high ropes course rescuers

This course qualifies individuals (such as park operators or senior instructors) to conduct rescue training for their own staff using the SAFE DESCENT and SAFE DESCENT PRO abseiling and rescue devices.

Participants will learn to perform functional checks, implement both passive and active rescue scenarios, and practice rescue techniques involving short lifting distances (e.g., from a connecting device).

Note: This training can be combined with the Smart Belay and Smart Belay-X Adjustment course.

Safe Descent Level 3 Update

Date: November 11, 2025 Focus: Manufacturer-authorized expertise for SAFE DESCENT (PRO)

This is a refresher training course for individuals who are already manufacturer-authorized persons for the inspection and maintenance of the SAFE DESCENT and SAFE DESCENT PRO rescue devices. Participation is required for certificate revalidation.

The training ensures you remain qualified to conduct the mandatory annual inspections (or inspections after special incidents) and perform necessary maintenance. Content includes advanced functional checks, inspecting and replacing parts (ropes, pulleys, brake pads), disassembly, reassembly, and proper documentation.

FAQs

Who is the Smart Belay Adjustment course for?

This half-day course is ideal for any park staff, team leaders, or operational managers responsible for daily opening checks and minor troubleshooting. It’s designed for those who need to quickly and safely adjust cable tension to keep the park running.

What is the difference between the Smart Belay Adjustment and Master courses?

The Adjustment course (half-day) teaches your park team how to perform routine checks and small adjustments. The Master course (5 days) is an in-depth program for senior technicians or large park operators, training them to perform the full annual service, major repairs, and complete disassembly.

Does the Safe Descent Level 1 course certify me to inspect the device?

No. The Level 1 course is a “train-the-trainer” program. It qualifies you to instruct your other staff on how to perform rescues using the device. It does not certify you to perform the annual technical inspection of the device itself. For that, you need the Level 3 authorization.

My Level 3 certification is expiring. Is the Update course required?

Yes. This course is a mandatory refresher to revalidate your certificate as a manufacturer-authorized person. It ensures you are up-to-date on all new procedures and standards required to legally perform the annual inspection and maintenance on the rescue devices.

Can I combine multiple training courses?

Yes, some courses are designed to be complementary. For instance, the Smart Belay Adjustment training and the Safe Descent Level 1 Instruction Trainer course can often be taken together, providing a highly efficient training day for your key staff.
