Textile Anchors

In climbing, textile anchors are built using strong, dynamic ropes or webbing specifically designed for climbing. They are typically constructed by tying knots and manipulating the webbing to create a secure connection point to the rock face.

Slings:

Climbing slings are versatile loops of webbing with various lengths and thicknesses. They are crucial components for building anchors, extending protection placements, and creating redirects.

Quickdraws:

Quickdraws are essentially two carabiners connected by a dogbone-shaped sling. They clip directly to bolts on the rock face and allow the rope to run smoothly through them while climbing. Quickdraws offer a faster and more convenient alternative to using slings for clipping bolts.

Key Differences:

  • Textile Anchors: Built on-site using ropes or slings and knots for temporary use.
  • Slings: Standalone webbing loops for various anchoring and rigging applications.
  • Quickdraws: Pre-assembled units with carabiners for clipping bolts efficiently.
